I fully understand that this
is only the end of the 2nd week of baseball... that being said, I'm
still angry.

How many times is Girardi
going to send Wang out to the mound to pitch 1+ innings? At some point you've got to realize that Wang hasn't
worked his issues out yet.

Why not bring Phil Hughes up
to replace Wang for a start or two while Wang corrects his delivery? The main
thing with Wang is that his body is getting out in front of his arm and when a
sinker ball pitcher drags his arm through the delivery, the result is a sinker
that doesn't sink. Its not a major issue, as a major leaguer, Wang should be
able to fix that rather quickly, but he hasn't.

Anthony Claggett, poor guy,
was called up today. It's unfortunate for him that he had to stay out there for
so long even though he was getting rocked. I can't even imagine how this will affect
his psyche. I hate when young guys get
used like that... basically the way they treated Claggett tells me that they don't
care about his development as a pitcher, they only care about getting someone
in to take some slack for the other guys on the pitching staff no matter who it
is or where he's at in his development. It's disheartening.

I don't fully blame our
pitching staff either. Our outfielders made a few errors today. The hitters are leaving way too many people
on base. It seems like the only time we score is when we hit a homer. The
Yankees cannot survive on homers alone. The way the Yanks are playing right
now is so reminiscent of last year... No consistency!

I know you want to protect your
guys late in blow out games (rest and all that) Girardi, but when you take
everyone out, it just shows that you have no faith in your team and you've
given up... If I paid hundreds of dollars to go sit in a new park, you better try
everything you can to win and you dang sure better not give up in the 4th
inning!!!

I would not be surprised one
bit if Pavano came out and shut out the Yankees tomorrow. C.C. isn't doing as great
as he could be, Wang is really bad, Joba is doing ok, A.J. is amazing, and Andy
is doing ok... In the pen, Mo and Bruney are the only guys I trust, and our hitters
still have yet to learn how to manufacture runs. Oh and don't forget about Girardi,
the manager who just sits in the dug out ignoring the fact that his team is getting
their butts kicked...

Oh I guess a congratulations
is in order, Congrats Eric Wedge on your 500th win as the Indians'
manager.

FINAL WHISPER: This is crap something
needs to be done and it needs to be done quick or else I'm going to scream. Oh
and I like how the Yankees are now the laughing stock of the majors... deserve a
new stadium my ---beep----.

Joba Chamberlain has delayed his hearing more times than I care to count, but finally plead guilty to the DUI charge he committed this past off season. Joba got 9 months probation, has to pay a $400.00 fine and will lose his license for 60 days. Big whoop... I mean I love Joba and I dont want him to be in legal trouble if he doesnt have to be, but DUI isnt something you should get way with that easily. I mean $400.00 is chump change to Joba; he doesnt have to drive so losing his license isnt that bad; and 9 months probation... he'll be in season for all but 2 of the 9 months, so it seems pretty easy to me. I guess as a Yankees fan its a good sentence, now we can all move on... but as a person who lost an uncle due to drinking and driving this makes me a little ill and its nothing against Joba...

As everyone knows C.C. Sabathia pitched today in his last spring training start. He pitched well today and exited in the fourth inning. When he came out of the game, everything seemed fine, but when the trainer was rubbing his shoulder down post-game it was discovered that CC Sabathia had some tightness and swelling in his shoulder. C.C. was rushed to get an MRI and it's been said that C.C. has a torn labrum and will miss the entire 2009 season and part of the 2010 season.

By now everyone knows I created a show on BlogTalkRadio.com called "A Show of Their Own." My co-host Bernadette and I have been doing the show for a year now and sadly the show was cancelled.

Bern and I have been dealing with a lot of behind-the-scenes drama. Most people already know what went on just by listening to the show, reading our blogs, and some past guest even received emails, which I find really disappointing.

If you don't know what went down, I guess I could say egos got in the way of the show. Even though people want to place blame on others, ultimately it comes down to our egos and the fact that we were unwilling to get past the drama.

I'm sorry to bring personal issues to a baseball blog, but I had to get this out in the open because I feel I've come out looking like the bad guy when I simply tried to remove myself from the situation (and just not get involved) since I was being placed in the middle of everything.

I had ties to both sides and it really saddens me that things turned out the way they did because I enjoyed the show and it was something I was very proud of. It was an ugly divorce to say the least. I guess this is business though and I need to get used to disappointment now rather than getting hurt worse later on.

FINAL WHISPER: I can honestly say two great things came out of all of this... 1. I have enough material to create an air check to send to actual stations when I graduate from college with my BS in Broadcast Journalism... and 2. Now that the show is over, I'll have more time to dedicate to this blog!

Just when I thought I could move on... this happens.

I'm seriously addicted to Xtranormal.com I wonder if there is a support group because I need help.

Alex is a blogger's dream this off season. I don't want him to be a circus clown, but if he does this to himself, why not take advantage of the story? Sounds harsh, but its true and Alex needs to realize that's what bloggers and the conventional media members do... we run with stuff. If you don't want to be a joke, don't act like one.

I heard Circus by Britney Spears on the radio yesterday and I thought to myself, this is Alex's song. Seriously, they are two peas in a pod.

I do believe that people want to love Alex, he's just making it hard on us right now. I love Alex, I'm not afraid to say it. Do I like him as a person? No. As a baseball player, Yes and that's all that really matters.

Madam or ex-madam Kristin Davis, who was also linked to Spitzer, has now come forward and said that Alex was one of her clients and she would supply him with hookers, prostitutes, call girls, or whatever they like to be called (I'm not up on the latest politically correct term for those chicks, so pardon me if I'm not pc).

I debated on if I wanted to put her name on my blog or not because I don't want to give her any publicity in the event that she's a big fat liar. But, I decided why not since its most likely true and its not like millions of people read my blog anyway.

Seriously though, I hope someone close to Alex will take him under their wing and set him straight because all these advisors he's hired haven't done a dang thing for him yet.

FINAL WHISPER: Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory is my new favorite show!
He's so funny... I miss Big though.

Do Work Son!

Pitching has been the main topic this off season for the Yankees, and for good reason... Well, pitching and A-Rod, but that's a given. So, what will I blog about today... A-Rod or Pitching?

I'm sick of writing about A-Rod, that blogging ship has sailed for the time being... So, lets move on to the pitchers.

There is no denying the fact that I love me some Phil Hughes... read this blog, listen to my show, its pretty evident. Anyway... Phil Hughes has been cut and optioned to minor league spring training with the SWB Yankees. Am I mad about this move? You would think so since I'm Pro-Hughes, but I'm not...

In the picture above... Phil is what Tyra would call FIERCE

I understand the value of Hughes being down in the minors. He needs to be down in the minors actually. He and Kennedy should have never been called up in the first place. They were way too young and inexperienced. Sure, they had some highlights, but for the most part, they did... no so great.

Both guys need some time to mature and grow as pitchers in the minors. Sure, some of my feelings are purely selfish, I admit I hope Hughes is with the SWB Yankees for the first 2 weeks of June, so I can see him close up in Charlotte. Selfish, I know, but he needs the work in the minors to build his self back up after a horrible year last year in the majors.

I'm not saying he needs to be in the minors the entire year, but he doesn't need to have a starting position in the rotation handed to him at the age of 22. Neither does Ian Kennedy. Bad, bad, bad, decision on the Yankees part last year. Make them at least think they have to fight for a spot, don't just fork it over.

SIDE NOTE: Ian Kennedy makes more money that Phil Hughes... yea, that's what I said. Either the Yankees have gone crazy, Kennedy has one heck of an agent, or Hughes has one sucky agent... whatever the case, I'm pretty upset about that one.

In other pitching news... Kei Igawa has yet to be cut. He's thrown 12 and some odd innings of scoreless baseball. WOW big friggin' whoop, IT'S SPRING TRAINING!!!

I think this is it... this is the golden opportunity all Yankees fans have been waiting for since we realized Igawa was, how do you say... "not very good." Can you tell I'm excited about this! His own countrymen think he sucks, I would think they would know better than us. Cashman either got some crazy awful scouting reports on Igawa or Igawa fooled everyone... either way it could be a conspiracy (just saying).

I was talking to my man, Bill and we both agreed, Igawa could be sent to the NL and be pretty successful. I think Igawa will be another Jose Contreras, suck while he's with the Yankees and beast it out when he goes to another team. Trade him to an NL West team and he could be a 10-15 game winner.

Now, all of this brings me to my next point... I've heard rumors that the Yankees are opening talks back up with the Milwaukee Brewers to get some trade done to bring Mike Cameron to New York... could they be thinking of trading Igawa? Now, granted that's the NL Central, but it's still the NL (not trying to start anything with NL fans, I'm just an AL girl...)
On to Mike Cameron, I'm not a fan of mediocre, middle aged outfielders, even though (again, my guy Bill says) Cameron has some mad range. I think Swish and Gardy can get it done in CF. I'm sorry I know Gardy is probably a quadruple-A player, but I love that dude. So much heart... I guess it's the high school softball coach side of me that loves Gardy. When I have a girl who plays her heart out, even if she's not the best on the team, she's getting playing time!

So, the 50th episode of A Show of Their Own aired this past Sunday. It was probably the worst show for me. Bern did great, but my internet connection was not cooperating with me at all and I think I was on the show for a grand total of 5 minutes.

I love doing the show, but sometimes I wonder if its all worth it. I don't get paid for the show and I put a lot of work into it and feel like I get nothing in return. Sure, we've interviewed a lot of great people and I met Bill, the most awesome guy ever, through my show, so that's all positive, but the behind-the-scenes stuff just sucks right now. Maybe I'm burned out or something, I don't know, but at this point I wonder if all this stuff is worth my time and effort. The Yankees really should at least give me and Bern season tickets or something for all we do (just my humble suggestion though).

Anyway... lets get back to baseball.

So, Alex is nursing his hip and is said to be ahead of schedule. I love Alex, seriously... I want him to be the best person (not just player) that he can be. I feel like I need to go visit Alex and set him straight... I think I could give him better advice than the team of folks he has advising him now!

Have you guys seen the latest picture of Alex? Bless his heart, he's kissing himself in a mirror! ALEX, what are you doing buddy? I thought this rehab stint would help him get out of the public eye for a little bit, which would be the best thing for him at this point, but he goes out of his way to find the media. I guess its whatever floats your boat, but Alex, you can't be serious... kissing yourself in a mirror?

Bernie Williams has been accused of slapping a woman in a Puerto Rican night club. Ok, I don't know the truth here, but it's my prerogative to believe Bernie is innocent on this one. I just can't believe the mild mannered, soulful, Bernie Williams is a woman beater... just doest make sense to me. So, maybe I have an unhealthy relationship with Yankees players... but I refuse to believe someone I looked up to for the better part of my life could turn out to be some troll. I could be wrong, but I'm praying that I'm not.

Brett Gardner is quickly becoming my favorite player. This guy has heart and its fun to watch him develop. As soon as he learns that he doesn't need this big majestic homerun swing and starts putting the ball on the ground, he'll be swell... So, Melky has him beat on arm strength, but Brett has more heart than Melky at the moment... plus Brett's faster, which is something the Yankees need now because like it or not the game is changing and at some point they are going to have to learn to manufacture runs and not rely on the homeruns.

So, that's my little spill for now.

FINAL WHISPER: I can't wait for the actual season to start...

When I first started "A Show of Their Own" I never thought it would catch on like it has. We've got hundreds of listeners and that still amazes me to this day. I can't imagine why anyone would care to hear my Yankees opinions, but I'm not complaining.

The show has helped me meet so many wonderful people. The family, that is Yankees Universe, is an amazing thing to be a part of and I feel honored to be a member. We've still got a long way to go to make our show the best, but it's a fun process. We've had some great guests on the show and we have the best listeners out there, I'm convinced.

We've had groups of people come in our show's chat room and go, only to be replaced by another equally awesome group. It really makes me proud to call myself a Yankees fan and know that I'm surrounded by so many other hardcore fans!

I couldn't ask for a better co-host, Bern is great. She works so hard and I just couldnt be happier she's on the show with me. We're to the point now were we can banter on air and not take it personally or get offended. That's great. I admit, at first I was afriad to argue... And Kary, what can I say about Kary... he took us under his wing and made some great call sweeps, music beds, and segment intros for us. He's the real radio guy in all this and I'm so greatful for all he's done for us.

Thanks so much to everyone who listens each week!

I'm a firm believer that there are 3 types of Yankees fans in this world. Those who are optimistic, those who are pessimistic, and those raised in the South (well there is a slight divide here).

The Optimistic Fan

Characteristics:

They come to the game decked out in Yankees attire. Their shirt, shoes, jeans, earrings, necklace, hat, etc all have a Yankees logo on it. They show up to the park an hour early and leave an hour late. They sing along to the "Star Spangled Banner," "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," "God Bless America," OH and don't forget, "Don't Stop Believing." They actually enjoy and even look forward to Disco Stew. They hate when people talk bad about their team. They will set you straight in a heart beat, but with dignity and class. They enjoy the experience of being at the ball park just as much as they enjoy the actual game. They don't worry about injuries because they believe in the spirit of team work and adjusting. They make several friends at the ball park because people naturally gravitate toward their charming aura. They always have hope even if the Yankees are down by 10 in the bottom of the ninth. And, they knew Aaron Boone was going to hit that homerun all along.

Common Phrases:

"LETS GO YANKEES (clap clap clap clap clap) LETS GO YANKEES."

"We'll get them next time"

"Boston SUCKS"

"CHARGE!!!!"

"We'll be fine, the guys will step it up"

"It ain't over til it's over"

The Pessimistic Fan

Characteristics:

Pessimistic fans come to the game decked out in Yankees attire also... But rather than flashing their pearly whites, they have a serious or even grim look on their face. They show up to the park right before the first pitch is thrown and they leave in the late innings of the game if the Yankees are down a run or more. They question the Yankees on their choice to play "God Bless America" and "Don't Stop Believing" at every single home game. They think all the in-between-innings scoreboard games are ridiculous and even a bit moronic. They hate when people talk crap about their team and will shove you down a flight of stairs if you don't back off. They enjoy being at the park with all the other fans, but you wouldn't know that from looking at them. If a pitcher even so much as touches their arm after a pitch, they fear for the worst and let everyone know the worst case scenario. They have a few really close friends they chat with at the park, new comers keep their distance for fear of getting yelled at. As soon as the Yankees go down a run, they declare, "Well, that's it, they just lost the game."

Common Phrases:

"You SUCK"

"Boston SUCKS"

"I can't watch anymore of this crap"

" (player name here) are you (curse word) insane?"

The Southern Yankees Fan

Characteristics:

The Southern fan is a rare breed. We also come out to the game decked out in Yankees attire because this is the only place we cannot be judged for being a Yankees fan. We show up to the park at 11am for a 7pm game because we want to take everything in while we are in "The Big Apple" (we've learned not to call NY "The Big Apple" unless we want to stand out even more). We have to be told to leave the stadium, not because we are slow or stupid, but because we don't want the moment to end, even if the Yankees lost. We stand at attention during the "Star Spangled Banner" and shun those who talk or don't take off their caps. We sing along to "God Bless America," and it almost brings a tear to our eyes because of all the love we feel in the stadium... we faithfully sing along to Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." --- I know you all liked that turn of phrase! LOL ...... We laugh at the scoreboard games only because we think its odd for a grown man to dress in such a tight, shiny, skin-baring outfit. We hate when people talk crap about our team. We'll set you straight the southern way. We enjoy the game, the atmosphere, and all the really cool (but funny talking) people we meet at the park. We don't fear for the worst, but we also don't understand how optimistic people can be so spirited in the face of adversity. We usually go to games with our family or friends we've met at some point in our lives that live in New York.

Common Phrases:

This is a tricky one, because Southern fans can appear to be optimistic when in reality they are very pessimistic. There is no mistaking a Southern Yankees Fan once they open their mouth. We talk slower and have a defined twang. The task is to find out if we are optimistic or pessimistic fans.

It sounds simple, but its harder than you think.

The Rules: Decide if the following phrases are from an optimistic or pessimistic Southern Yankees Fan. The answers will be at the bottom. NO CHEATING!!!

1. "Bless his heart, Alex isn't hitting anything today."

2. "Cano is going on the 15-day DL, bless his heart"

3. "Boston SUCKS"

4. "The Yankees are down by 4 runs in the bottom of the ninth, bless their hearts."

5. "Bless his heart, Jeter has lost range."

Quick tip to decipher a Pessimistic Southern Yankees Fan from an Optimistic Yankees Fan...

A. You should all know that Southerners do not like to be outwardly mean to anyone. Its just not in our southern hospitality code of ethics. So, it's our belief that if we say "Bless his/her/their heart" it is excused.

B. If you say "Bless his/her/their heart" first as a preface to a statement it's a pessimistic fan. If "bless his/her/their heart" comes after the

FINAL WHISPER: These rules do not apply to me, because... well, they just don't.
