OPENING DAY!!!!
Ahhh Yankees baseball is
officially back!
I want to wish everyone a
very happy opening day! I hope all of your teams win (unless of course you’re
an Orioles fan, in which case… LETS GO YANKEES).
Sadly I cannot watch the
game today. The softball team I coach has a double header today and it’s an
away game so I have to be on the bus at 3:00 p.m. sharp! This is going to be
the first opening day game I’ve missed since 1995. I’m totally bummed.
My man, Bill is going to be
at the game… which I’m totally jealous of. He’s promised to texted me game updates
during my softball game, but I don’t know if I should look or not. Maybe I
should just wait and watch the game when I get home, but it’s not the same… I’m
not going to be able to resist looking at the texts, but I’ll watch the game
when I get home regardless.
*** Text Message Alert: Bill says Camden
is “Yankee Stadium, south.” Apparently the Yankees are going to have plenty of
people cheering them on today!
So I decided that I’d put my
2009 predictions down for everyone to see and laugh at. (*) denotes wild card

FINAL WHISPERER: I’ll break down each division in my new few blogs…
Baseball Nerdish as Always,

Former Yankee and oldest living former MLB player passed away.
It’s pretty evident from this blog that I’m a Yankees fan, but I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned that I am also a Duke Blue Devils fan. It’s not always popular to be a Duke fan, but neither is being a Yankees fan. The local paper in Charlotte had a great article in the paper about the passing of the oldest former MLB player (who played for the Yankees and was an All-American basketball player at Duke). I hope you’ll all go read the article… click here.
I just want to send my deepest sympathies to the Werber family and friends. I wasn’t alive to see Bill Werber in action, but I hear he was a pretty great base runner… once a Yankee always a Yankee.
Final Whisper: My favorite part of the story come from this quote: “I crossed home plate before Babe got to first base – he took those little mincing steps, you know. When Babe came in to the dugout, he sat on the bench beside me. He patted me on the head and said, ‘Son, you don’t have to run like that when the Babe hits one.’”
